After suffering a 2-1 blow on the Match Day 1 of the Naija Super 8 league, undoubtedly, Enyimba FC have found Remo Stars as their bogey  team.

Friday’s match at the Onikan water-front arena is the fourth encounter of Enyimba and Remo Stars this season. None has come in favour of the famed ‘Elephants’ of Aba, not even the one played at the Aba fortress of Enyimba.

If the check is extended to seven years, only once had Enyimba beaten Remo Stars and that was in Aba in 2016. So, in six head-to-head confrontations, only once had Enyimba beaten Remo Stars whose impressive showing continue to garner support for the team.

As indicator to what should be expected from them in the more challenging CAF Champions League, they inflicted a 2-1 defeat on their fellow campaigner and two-time African champions.

Remo Stars opened scoring in the 20th minute as Isaac James left Enyimba’s keeper Olorunleke Ojo floundering.

Enyimba fought back gamely, proving that big elephants, in the mould of champions don’t go down easily. Within five minutes of Remo Stars’ lead, they levelled up through  Chisom Okereke.

But they found a stubborn Remo Stars difficult nuts to crack. The boys from Ikenne regained the lead after 58 minutes through  Seun Ogunribide to win what could be their most challenging match of the group stage of the Naija Super 8 League.
