With hopes of podium finish looking finished for Team Nigeria as the closing glee approaches for the Paris 2024, a renewed hope  emerges with wrestling events beginning on Monday.

Wrestling has been a strong discipline for Team Nigeria as that discipline is led by former world champion and Olympic Gold medallist, Daniel Igali.

He remains hopeful that Nigerians wrestlers will deliver when they take to the mats.

Igali was the captain of the Nigerian wrestling team to Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, he sought asylum in that country after the Games owing to political upheaval in the country at the time. Four years later, he was granted Canadian ciitizenship  and won Olympic gold medal in wrestling at Sydney 2000 to become Canada’s only male Olympic gold medal winner in wrestling.

His magic wand is expected to impact on a strong Team Nigeria bunch of wrestlers at Paris 2024.

At the weekend, he was full of optimism stressing his confidence in such wrestlers like Blessing Oborududu and Odunayo Adekuoroye.
