#COVID19Nigeria toll has moved past the 28,000 mark after recording 603 Fresh COVID-19 Cases in 18 states and Federal Capital Territory.

The Genius Media report that Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirm that COVID-19 in Nigeria have risen to 28,167 as Huge Fresh virus were recorded today. On its twitter handle, the agency said:

Total coronavirus cases in Nigeria have now jumped from 27,564 confirmed on Friday to 28,167 infections.

Number of fatalities have increased from 628 to 634, while the number of discharged patients grew from 11,069 recorded yesterday to 11,462 successfully managed cases.

In addition, as at July 3rd, total samples tested so far have increased 144,833 to 148,188, according to NCDC’s situation report.

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has ordered a total lockdown in four local government areas of the state.

The lockdown which will be effective from Tuesday for an initial period of seven days will be enforced in Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West LGAs.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

She explained that the lockdown is to curb the spread of coronavirus in the areas and the the government would announce an extension if the compliance level turns out to be abysmal.
