The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed December 11, 2025 as the final deadline for all participating countries— including Nigeria — to submit their definitive 23-man squads for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With the tournament scheduled to run from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, CAF has formally notified all qualified federations to ensure their final lists are submitted well ahead of kickoff.
For the Super Eagles, this means head coach and selectors now have just days to finalise squad decisions, including late calls on fitness and form.
In its circular to member associations, CAF reiterated that no player changes will be allowed after the December 11 deadline, except in cases of serious injury. Any such request must be backed by a detailed medical report and approved by the AFCON Organising Commission.
The strict timeline places additional pressure on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which is expected to announce a provisional list before trimming it down to the final 23. Nigeria, chasing a fourth continental title after last lifting the trophy in 2013, faces high expectations ahead of the Morocco showpiece.
The squad deadline also means clubs—both domestic and international—can expect early communication on player release, ensuring adequate preparation time before the Super Eagles begin their AFCON campaign.
CAF is expected to release further logistical details in the coming weeks as host nation Morocco continues preparations for what promises to be one of the most anticipated editions of the tournament.
