Compliance Team Led by CSC M.O. Lawal Claims Five Prestigious Awards in Command’s 2025 Ceremony.
The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Idiroko, has celebrated outstanding operational achievements at its 2025 Annual Award Gala Night. The event spotlighted officers and teams who demonstrated exceptional performance, with the Compliance Team under Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) M.O. Lawal emerging as the most decorated unit.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Awards Committee, DC Yusuf, framed the evening’s purpose. “We are here to celebrate not just the winners, but the entire collective spirit of achievement,” he stated, noting that the selection process upheld the “highest standards of fairness, transparency, and integrity.” He emphasized that the recognized performance “sets the new benchmark” for the Command.
CSC M.O. Lawal’s team dominated the awards, winning in five critical enforcement categories:
· Patrol Team with Highest Number of Seizures for the Year
· Patrol Team with Highest Value of Seizures
· Team with Highest Seizures of Foreign Vehicles
· Team with Highest Seizures of Rice
· Team with Single Highest Seizures of Duty Paid Value
The Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, commended the winners and the initiative. He specifically highlighted the officer who won five awards, describing him as “a transparent officer.” Addressing the broader command, DC Afeni encouraged others to strive for excellence: “Learn to try… Next year, they should try. If they win, we will give them.”
Looking forward, the Comptroller outlined an ambitious vision for 2026, stating that the Command is “already setting in motion machineries” to transform the area into “not only an enforcement zone, but a revenue-generating zone too.”
The gala, designed to allow officers to “unwind in a very relaxed manner” according to DC Afeni, successfully reinforced a culture of recognition and healthy competition within the Idiroko Customs Command.
