AC Milan have signed Nigerian-born Swiss forward Noah Okafor from Salzburg on a five-year deal, the Serie A club said on Saturday. Okafor who is of Igbo descent has a Nigerian father and Swiss mother.
He has already committed his international career to Switzerland having made a debut as a substitute player on 9 June 2019 in a UEFA Nations League third place game against England. He went in as an 113rd minute substitute for Haris Seferovic.
He has since been capped 14 times. In his move to AC Milan, the financial details have not been disclosed but media reports said the Italian side paid 15 million euros ($16.68 million) for the striker.
The 23-year-old joins Stefano Pioli’s squad after making 110 appearances and scoring 34 goals for Salzburg across all competitions since his arrival in 2020, helping the club win four Austrian Bundesliga titles and three domestic cups.
