Neither Egypt nor DR Congo had won a match at the on-going Africa Cup of Nations. Neither had also lost a duel.

Both had drawn their three group games and are thus draw specialist.

With both meeting at the Round of 16 in San Pedro, they are still afflicted with the ‘draw syndrome’ as scores stood at 1-1.

Meschak Elia shot DR Congo ahead in the 37th minute. At 45+1 minute, Egypt replied with a penalty kick goal fired in by Mostafa Mohammed. DR Congo last won the Afcon 50 years ago in Egypt.
