As the result of the MRI scan conducted on Victor Osimhen after the injury he sustained last Friday, is being awaited, there are fears that the top striker may miss the two World Cup qualifying matches next month as well as the Africa Cup of Nations finals in January.
It is being suspected that what he sustained was hamstring injury, the degree of which is yet to be ascertained. Already, the medics of his club, Napoli are also concerned.
Sports Village Square gathered that if hamstring is confirmed, Osimhen may be out for about eight weeks.
Medical experts remarked that mild to moderate (grade 1 or 2) tears or strains can heal within three to eight weeks with diligent home therapy.
“For a grade 3 hamstring tear or strain, recovery may be as long as three months. Returning to sports before the injury is fully healed can cause more severe injuries.”
Victor Osimhen missed the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon owing to facial injury. Another miss looks looming.
The star man has played just one Africa Cup of Nations’ match in 2019 when he came in as a substitute for injured Odion Ighalo in the losers’ final match with Tunisia.
