The fast approaching Sportsville Special Recognition Award got a boast on Wednesday with a call by one of Nigeria’s most enlightened minds in the broadcast industry.
Dr Danladi Bako, the one time Director General of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC), applauded the organisers of the annual Sportsville Awards for the vibes they have brought into the Nigerian sports scene since the introduction of the awards four years ago.
The Kogoma of Sokoto spoke with the MD/CEO of Sportsville, Frank Ilaboya, in Abuja.
“Frank, I just listened to you on Rhythm FM and I must say, I am very proud of you and what you are doing. Your delivery was master piece!
“Your organisation is one of the few that has been consistent, creative and credible. Keep of the good work because you never know who is following what you are doing.
“On your annual award, you guys are doing a brilliant job, I have been following it since the beginning and I must say it’s getting bigger and better.
“You have stuck to the ideals of finishing out people who have sacrificed for Nigerian sports development over the years.
“I am so fascinated to see the name of former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as one of your awardees this year.
“No club has got near, let alone win the CAF Champions League after Enyimba did it during Orji Uzor Kalu days as governor, such a man deserves all,” the man whose imprints in broadcasting is evergreen, added
Dr Bako created Morning Ride and Masters Sports, two most vibrant followed sports programs on NTA Channel 5 then.
Till date, his passion for sports, especially football, keeps growing.
He was also a proud recipient of the Sportsville ICON Award in 2022.
The 2024 edition holds at the Prestigious EKO CLUB, Surulere Lagos on Friday, March 1st, 2024.
