Morocco’s national head coach Walid Regragui will hold a press conference on December 28 to announce the final list of players who will participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) reported on Monday.

The conference is scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora, near Rabat.

On December 20, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the provisional list of 55 players that Regragui had selected to potentially play in the AFCON.

Most of these players had participated in last year’s World Cup in Qatar, where they made history by becoming the first African or Arab country to reach the semi-finals..

Alongside veteran players, Regragui has called up new rising talents to potentially prove themselves on African soil.

These players include Ismael Saibari, Sofiane Diop, Amine Adli, among others who could be participating in a high-level tournament with Morocco for the first time.

After Regragui announces the final squad in Thursday’s conference, the Moroccan team will gather on January 2 for their first training camp in Morocco in preparation for the continental competition.

The 2023 AFCON will be played from January 13 to February 11 and will see the Atlas Lions face Tanzania, DR Congo, and Zambia in the group stage.
