As the weeks turn into days leading to the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, the hosts and Nigeria’s main rivals in Group A have beaten Sierra Leone 5-1 in a friendly match preparatory to the competition.

The match was played at the Laurent Pokou Stadium, San-Pedro, one of the theatres of AFCON 2023, A header from  Ousmane Diomande in the 18th minute put Cote d’ivoire ahead.

Franck Kessié doubled the lead in the 37th minute before Jonathan Bamba increased the tally to 3-0 in the 39th minute.

Jérémie Boga made it 4-0 while Lazare Amani, a second half substitute scored the fifth goal.
