With the 67th annual Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday in Paris, Nigeria’s in-form striker, Victor Osimhen of Napoli is in the seventh cloud over his nomination. At the same time, he is one of the nominees for the FIFA’s The Best.

Although a shortlist has not been released, Osimhen is in a vantage position to win the African Footballer of the Year Award which will hold in December in Morocco.

The Nigerian prodigy was on Twitch, an interactive live streaming service on TV Play and spoke on sundry of issues starting with the Ballon d’Or. Speaking on they joy of his nomination, he however conceded the title to Lionel Messi and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Osimhen was asked:  “Who will win the Ballon d’Or?

His response was sharp and direct: “For me the two who deserve to win are Messi and Haaland. One won the World Cup, the other the Treble. I don’t want to say my opinion on it, but they both deserve to win.”

When prompted on his chances of winning the prestigious award, he responded: “Honestly, if one day I can be close to winning it it will be sensational, for me it is already a dream to play at this level. It will be a goal, but not an obsession. If I’m able to be competitive at a certain level, that will be great.”
