While several fans of Napoli are yet to come to term over Victor Osimhen missing in action in the quarter final duels against AC Milan this month in the UEFA Champions League, the Nigerian striker has assured the Napoli fans that he will be ready for the crucial matches.

The Nigerian forward picked up injury last week while on national duty with Super Eagles against Guinea Bissau in Match-day three and four of AFCON qualifying matches, the injury subsequently ruled him out of the visit of Milan to Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last night for Serie A duel.

But with the Champions League duels loom large, he is targeting a return with the first leg at San Siro on April 12, then the decider at home on April 18th.

“It is nothing serious, but I want to take these 10-12 days to rest and recover,” Osimhen confirmed to TG5com.

He said further that “I hope to be there, but I have also been told and I am convinced that I will be on the pitch against Milan.”

Meanwhile, the Partenopei are at least 19 points clear at the top of the table and that could well be extended this weekend, especially as Inter lost 1-0 at home to Fiorentina.

“We are all happy and giving our best to make our dream come true. We are close to the objective and can’t wait for that dream to become reality. Naples is extraordinary, so passionate. I have never received so much love and I can’t wait to celebrate the title with them in the stadium and in the streets.”

Osimhen has become a hero to the young fans of Napoli, many of whom try to emulate their icon by copying his protective mask and bleached hair, though some also tried a bit too hard and ‘blacked up’ for carnival.

“The love of the people of Naples is overwhelming, I’ve never had so much love I can’t wait to celebrate the Scudetto with the fans, at the stadium and on the streets of the city

“We are all happy and we are giving our best to make our dream come true. When the season started, few believed in us. We are close to the goal and we can’t wait for our dream to come true.”
