Eight suspected IPOB members were killed on Thursday evening by police and army personnel in a joint operation for alleged attempt to attack Orlu police station in Imo State .

Two IPOB members were arrested with four AK-47 rifles, pistol and several ammunition were recovered from them.

Also recovered were eight vehicles alleged to have been stolen to carry out the attack.

iReportnews learnt that the incident occurred at about 5p.m., when the IPOB members went to the police station and started shooting.

But they were resisted by the police and the army, resulting in exchange of gunshots, which brought down six of the members.

A reliable source told iReportnews that the arrested members were helping the police in their investigations.
