Nigeria Super Eagles and their officials will watch with keen interest, the proceedings at the last of the quarter-final matches as Cape Verde engage South Africa.

The match comes up at 9pm and will be the last of the quarter final duels. The winners of the encounter will engage the Super Eagles in the semi-final on Wednesday in Bouake.

Both teams are relatively not new to the Super Eagles. Nigeria had played in the quarter-finals of the last edition against South Africa.

That is just one of the numerous encounters of both teams even as they are due to clash this June in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria and Cape Verde were opponents in the preliminary stage of the qualifying series of Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Which ever the team Nigeria will face, the encounter is bound to be grudge-laden. Cape Verde were on the verge of upstaging Nigeria at home in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, forcing a 1-1 draw even when the Super Eagles had a dream start of scoring in the first minute of the match.

In an earlier leg, it was an own goal that enabled Nigeria beat Cape Verde 2-1.
